How to Identify Good Movers
Tuesday, June 30th, 2009* First, before even speaking with a mover, decide what household goods will be sent and what will be sold or given away.
* Consider whether or not you want the engine to pack your things and what other services you might need.
* Call or e-mail the changes being considered for the job and ask for an estimate. Get a consultant to study the relocation of your home and prepare an estimate in writing.
* Ask the future engines of their estimates of how long they are valid and binding.
* Never accept a quote over the phone, and not consider using a company that offers this service.
* For a more accurate estimate, inform the application of the potential difficulties and problems (ie, parking problems, road access, street access, time restrictions, stairs, elevators, etc)
* Avoid additional charges. If the movement is the crew to carry his load of more than 75 feet from the truck moving at home you may be charged for excessive distance.
* To check the reliability of the move you can contact the Better Business Bureau to investigate the complaint by the company register.
* Ask your friends, relatives and neighbors of recommendations and tips for removals.
* Check if the DOT license number, as all engines have to be licensed. However, interstate movers are required to meet two additional criteria:
1. Publish their tariffs and make them available to anyone who requests a copy,
2. Participate in a dispute settlement program and offer neutral arbitration in the event of any conflict.
* Ask all the engines of the references.
* Make sure you understand the coverage for loss or damage to your shipment. All licensed drivers must provide liability for the value of goods they carry.
